There are two kinds of people: which are you?

Well first off, let me apologize for the near-week of silence. I didn't plan it that way - I simply wasn't sure what I wanted to say. And I don't really like writing blogposts just to write them, because I'm "supposed" to. I was also wrapped up in quite a bit last week.

However, in the last week, I was really challenged by a question posed to me by Marie & Laura of B-School, and I've been thinking about it non-stop.

What kind of person are you?
Are you the lady (or guy) with the results, or the lady with the reasons?

The lady with the results gets things done; no matter how much she has on her plate; because she sets goals that will help her grow her business, become happier, or move toward a larger goal, and then goes after them with tenacity.

The lady with the reasons has multiple excuses (I mean, uh, reasons) why she didn't or couldn't get those results.

I want to be the lady with the results.
For awhile now I've been feeling a great sense of urgency to accomplish something each day. While it may sound like a lot of pressure to put on oneself (and it is), it's also extremely rewarding when you see the fruits of your labour start to take root and grow.

Even if it's something as simple as doing 15 minutes of gesture drawing a day, adding one item to your Etsy Shop each week, or just trying to respond to emails the same day; it all starts with a small choice to be proactive - or even just active.

This week my goal is to update my shop with 3 new items, finish a set of commissioned paintings, and get a haircut (lol, really).

When you simply reduce your To-Do List to a few high-priority things, you ease your mind into realizing that is IS do-able. I'm guilty of having the never-ending ToDo List, and it just daunts me. So I've been trying to prioritize, simplify, and get at em.

So, what are your 3 goals for this week?
Tell me, let's keep each other accountable! I need a buddy sometimes.

  1. 3 goals for this week? Oh geez...I've got a never ending to-do list as well, but I guess to narrow it down it'd have to be: 1. Get out and go jogging at least 3 times this week. 2. Finish one art request on gaia. 3. Break open that sketchbook and start drawing again.

    I think I lean more towards the person with...reasons. Sometimes I really get stuff done, but other times...not so much. I need to fix this. xD

  3. I've definatly been leaning towards the person with the reasons...and it annoys the heck out of me lol..so 3 goals for the week...
    1. Make and post 2 new signs on etsy
    2. catch up on my paperwork
    3. clean/organize my work area.

    If I'm ever going to start doing things I need to get myself more organized first (thus goals 2 &3 :)

  5. Shaluah - Good for you! I'm not fond of running, so my sister and I found free bellydancing and hip hop exercise videos on TV lol. Break open that sketchbook, girl!

    Carolina - Thank you so much!!! I hopped over to your blog and entered :) Thanks for commenting!

    Kristina - Yea, I lean towards the reasons too... so I'm challenging myself to be the lady with the results :) And hey, organization is key! Good luck! What's your Etsy? I'd love to check you out :)

    Aeternus - Sounds like a plan :) I hope some of that work is gonna be up on your blog so I can check it out when it's done :) Let me know when you post it?

  6. This is really inspiring. :) I'm one of those people who sort of has a really rough to do list that consists mostly of long term goals. That's pretty daunting, as well, as I don't know what to do to accomplish those goals. Would be better if I broke it down into smaller goals that work toward those long term goals.

    However, I'm also the worst procrastinator. I tend to get things done, not because I want them done early, but because if I don't do them immediately, bad things will happen.

    Right now, my only immediate goal is to find a job; however, that's a bit difficult when I'm in Britain until the end of June. ^_^;

    My boyfriend's mother has suggested I try to find some sort of Au Pair job, but I have no idea where to look. ^_^;

    Anyway, keep up the amazing work and with your current mindset of achieving small goals each day, you -will- be the lady with results. :)
