The Black Swan

I feel like I have so much I could blog about - the days are packed and go by so quickly! And there's always something going on.

This past weekend, I literally spent 44 out of 72 hours in the studio, working on finalizing my Baba Yaga Project for critique on Monday morning. Crit went really well in my opinion, I'll be posting the finished pieces soon!

For now, I have been sketching The Black Swan,
for another poster for Computer Illustration class.

And on a completely separate note,
1. My oven burns everything I put in it (even if I take 25 degrees off the recipe), including my lovely banana bread that I just made :(

2. I wonder, sometimes, if I will ever really trust anyone again. I know that sounds horribly emo, but it's been 4 years since I've had a "real", long-term relationship. I'm tired of guesswork. It's exhausting, and I feel like I've forgotten how to trust someone. Am I alone in this?

3. I picked the Black Swan, because sometimes I feel like her. On the outside, I feel like I seem quite put-together; however there is sometimes this "dark passenger" that comes out - out of all of us -  I am glad I can express it through art.

  1. I love seeing your new sketches. The Black Swan is lovely, and the way you identify with her really shows through in your work. Also, I totally LOL'd at your oven that burns everything. Glad to know I'm not alone on that one... and I do know how it feels to wonder about trusting someone again. I'm sure you will in time. It's all about finding someone who is WORTH your trust. ;)

  3. I don't have trust issues romantically (that would be weird, because I'm married) but I definitely have some when it comes to making new friends. I had a really bad falling out with an old roommate right after college, and it made me not want to meet new people for a while because I just assumed everybody would end up mean.

    So I hear ya.

  5. Your drawings are truly exceptional! I look forward to seeing the finished Baba Yaga pieces. Also, our oven burns everything too! Something will be inside, completely raw, and then you check back in two minutes and it's a piece of charcoal! :c

  6. Ali - Thanks so much! Yea, trust isn't an overnight thing - it must be earned and earned in return ;)

Peculiar Forest - Thanks! The movie is absolutely beautiful, but haunting. It scared me a little when I saw it in the theatres, hahah... but definitely a must-see.

Frannie - thank you so much!

Paige - Yea I definitely think it can go that way with friends too. I'm sorry to hear about your old roommate :( I had a frustrating experience with one of mine too; it really makes you think twice about who to let in.

Weird Amiga - haha, thanks. Just a matter of figuring out how to get it just right.

Milla - Thanks so much! Yea, my banana bread was black around the edges :( Thankfully, the inside was perfect, so I just cut off the edges lol!
