Miri Goes to the Beach ~
Hi hunnies ~
How has everyone's week been? Mine has been pretty sweet! I just spent a few relaxing days at the beach with my family, and am getting ready to head up to NYC on Friday for some much-needed girl time with some of my best friends from college :D Double-yay! Who knows? there might be an NYC vlog in the works! We'll see!
I promised some silly/fun beach pictures, so here you go!
Our sweet awesome house! And my funny little cousins running down the beach! The beach was beautiful and we had some gorgeous weather!
I have no idea who wrote this, we found it on the beach. Lololol ho'snap - burrrnnnnn
I wanted to write a special beach sign for all of you! Thank you for following me/commenting/etc !!! And a beautiful sunset!
Me and my sister - getting ready for our first go at kareoke EVER. We were so nervoussssss!
Sarah, peforming "Magic Man", and me, my cousin Heidi, and our friend Sarah performing "You're the One That I Want" from Grease! Not half bad for our first time at kareoke! I would totally do it again! I used to sing a tonnnn in highschool - being on stage feels so natural :)
All of us at "Windrift", the kareoke bar. I'm pretty sure this was taken about 5 minutes before some guy tried to get my sisters number LOL. That's me on the right!
And finally, the best photo of our vacation: the Hat Game, one of my personal favourites. I think you can see why: Googly-eyed Crab, Scary Great White Shark, and Moosey-Moose.
* Stay tuned for another update tomorrow with some awesome sneak peeks, and my featuuuure yayness !

Lovers Under Attack Ho'Noes
Finished painting I did for the "Mysticism" contest on GO.
Worked all day to finish this baby :D I think my favourite part is the blonde girls' hair, and her furthest extended leg and the toe of that boot lololol I'm easy to please I guess.

If all the raindrops were lemondrops and gumdrops...
I usually don't dig styles like this too too much... I guess I feel like most of it is cookie-cutter animuuu. BUT! This caught my eye today:
{ via acrylicana }
What an adorable image. I love the ovaled composition, I love the concept of a "candy rain" (I mean, who as a kid DIDN'T dream about candy rain?! Shoot, I was all OVER that as a kid!), I love the pastel-y colour scheme. And for goodness sake, I LOVE her dress. Reminds me of all the loli's I saw walking around AX. Some awesome costumes there.
This image is totally inspiring me to paint a loli girl. Ho'damn.
And I loooove those balloons! So much awesome in one image. This is what I hope people find in my images: so many things to love, they can't keep their eyes still.

First Convention Report - A Success :)
Hi friends,
Again, my blog-mommy skills have been lacking. Basically, I was working my ass off to create all of my merchandise for AX, then went to AX for four days, and am now sitting in a lovely condo/hotel room in San Jose.
I just made a fresh pot of coffee from stuff that isn't the hotel's "Hearth Blend" (aka, tastes like watery cardboard), and I realized, "Doh - you forgot extra coffee filters!!". So my ingenious self rigged some up from the extra decaf packets that were laying around. And now I am happily sipping on Hazelnut Creme coffee with real milk in it - not that "non-dairy creamer" stuff. Blegh.
Can you tell I have picky coffee tastebuds? I guess that comes after being a coffee-lover and barista for years and years and years.
Anyways, AX was a blast. At first I was totally skeptical... Day 1 got off to a really frustrating start. I didn't know where anything was, I was nervous, I had to stand in long lines only to find out that I was in the wrong place... oi. Then I had some really nice lady sort me out, and after feeling like a total con-n00bie, I found my happy little table and set up shop.
After that, I absolutely loved it!!! It was so much fun to be there, meeting everyone and striking up conversation. Even though it was an investment for me to go all the way out there for the event, I nearly broke even (which I thought was virtually hopeless). I got a lot of tips from friends about which cons to do, and where to get cheaper prints, and I learned a thing or two myself about which products sold the best. Totally kicking myself for not signing up for Otakon's AA, which is in about 2 weeks in my hometown. Boo hiss. Oh well, there's always next year. You better BELIEVE that I will have so much kickass stuff. You'll collapse from awesomeness-exhaustion right in front of my table! (I will be there, of course, to douse you with a generous helping of art to revive you).
Aside from that, things are going. I'm looking for a job up in NYC right now (and Baltimore, as a second choice). Basically looking to just make money to put myself through grad school, which I will be applying for this fall.
I have a few boutiques in my hometown that I'm going to visit with some of my jewelry and stuff... so we'll see how that goes.
And! I am working on a ton of commissions / contest entries. Here's a little preview of a larger painting I'm working on. Arcana (pictured), is a demon succubus who is spying dangerously close to two lovers (not pictured - below), ready to attack. Muahaha - enjoy.
